Mean Girls, a teenage comedy movie is also based partly on a non fiction book, Queen Bees and Wannabes written by Rosalind Wiseman. Raised in an African bush country by her zoologist parents, 16 year old home schooled Cady Heron moves back to America and has to start her first day at Northshore High and has to learn the rules of High School filled with stereotypical clichés including “The Plastics” an exclusive group of teenage girls led by the Queen bee, Regina George.
The plastics then decide to recruit Cady into their group but however Cady is still unsure of her relationship with them and seeks advice from her two new friends Damien and Janis, Janis seeing this as an opportunity to seek revenge at Regina George for starting a rumor about her sexuality, the three individuals then start to conspire a plan to bring Regina George down by cutting of her “resources” which are her friends, ex boyfriend and her body.
Cady at first doubted this plan and didn’t really want to cause any trouble but at the Halloween party Regina George purposely took back her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels because she was jealous of Cady’s attraction to him. This conspiracy Cady and soon Janis, Damien and Cady implemented their plan to destroy Regina. However as Cady spends time with the plastics she too becomes one of them, the cliché she hated most. I really liked this movie, it’s a teen movie but realistic despite it’s exaggeration this movie shows the reflection of High School life which is really just a big exaggeration of things and that the real world shouldn’t be like that, Tina Fey did a really good job in writing a story that teenagers can relate to .
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a movie mix of crime and comedy which basically based on the novel Bodies are where you find them by Brett Halliday. The reference for the film title is base on adaptation of Pauline Kael’s book which she called perhaps the briefest statement imaginable of the basic appeal of movies, which if you further think about it is an irony on films today that only use that appeal in their movies. Anyways the film is narrated by a small time criminal Harry Lockhart who fled after a robbery.
Harry avoids the police by ducking into a film audition and quite frankly is able to impress the producers with his either wise convincing method acting, hire him and fly him to Hollywood where Harry meets private investigator who happens to be gay, Perry Van Shrike who also helps him with his role for the movie. While at a Hollywood party Harry bumps into his highschool crush Harmony Lane, both of them leave to Harry’s apartment but the romance is crushed Harry somehow accidentally sleeps with Harmony’s friend because he was drunk. Meanwhile while working with Perry, Harry accidentally stumbles upon a kidnapping and murder conspiracy that involves a very high profile heiress.
With a crime scene that is intended to frame and incriminate Harry he is able to convince Harmony that he is a detective and both of them investigate her sister’s murder because Harmony believes that the murder of her sister is someone who is also targeting her.
As events related both of the crimes unfold Harry, Perry and Harmony cooperate together to investigate thus endangering all of their lives in the process and revealing a major conspiracy. First of all, I really love this movie I think this movie is funny, witty and well I love the people who star in this movie. Robert Downey is able to play the guy that who we perceive as a charmer and somewhat of a womanizer while Val Kilmer has gone back to his roots playing comedy, I think that he is funny without being over the top in anyway.
I recommend this movie to all comedy enthusiasts out there get a glimpse of Robert Downey before Iron man believe me, you won’t be disappointed.
The movie takes place on World War II where a Nazi invade France, a jewish girl name Shosanna Dreyfus witness the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa known as Jew Hunter. She succesfully escape from the incident and a few years later she open a movie theatre, somehow she have a plan to seek revenge on the Nazi’s by taking advantage a German war hero named Fredrick Zoller takes a rapid interest in her and arranges for the movie which was based on his lifestory to be premiered at Shosanna’s movie theatre.
This movie was directed by Quentin Tarantino and stars Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger and Melanie Laurent. I just loved this movie eventhough it is fiction I just wished history could have ended up like this, the movie was intense and action packed. Christoph Waltz did a very fine job playing a Nazi, he was ruthless, cunning and overall sadistic.
Brad Pitt also did a fine job in his portrayal as the hero I thought his accent was very funny. My favourite scene was in the movie theatre I thought it was very intense and somewhat a happy ending, that Hitler finally got what he deserve. This movie is a must see but only for action buffs out there and people who appreciate Quentin Tarantino movies.
My favorite intense scene!
