Mean Girls, a teenage comedy movie is also based partly on a non fiction book, Queen Bees and Wannabes written by Rosalind Wiseman. Raised in an African bush country by her zoologist parents, 16 year old home schooled Cady Heron moves back to America and has to start her first day at Northshore High and has to learn the rules of High School filled with stereotypical clichés including “The Plastics” an exclusive group of teenage girls led by the Queen bee, Regina George.

The plastics then decide to recruit Cady into their group but however Cady is still unsure of her relationship with them and seeks advice from her two new friends Damien and Janis, Janis seeing this as an opportunity to seek revenge at Regina George for starting a rumor about her sexuality, the three individuals then start to conspire a plan to bring Regina George down by cutting of her “resources” which are her friends, ex boyfriend and her body.

Cady at first doubted this plan and didn’t really want to cause any trouble but at the Halloween party Regina George purposely took back her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels because she was jealous of Cady’s attraction to him. This conspiracy Cady and soon Janis, Damien and Cady implemented their plan to destroy Regina. However as Cady spends time with the plastics she too becomes one of them, the cliché she hated most. I really liked this movie, it’s a teen movie but realistic despite it’s exaggeration this movie shows the reflection of High School life which is really just a big exaggeration of things and that the real world shouldn’t be like that, Tina Fey did a really good job in writing a story that teenagers can relate to .

The humor is witty and smart and I also liked the portrayal of the characters, this was the breakout role for Lindsay Lohan and it’s a pity to what she has become now. Rachel Mc Adams was also very convincing as the self centered and somewhat crazy Regina George. This flick I would say is a dark comedy much like Heathers which became a cult hit but each of these movies were made in a different time with different issues. However I recommend this movie to well almost everyone out there who has gone through the agony of High School and just wants a good laugh.
