The story starts in the court, when Father Moore who is a priest being charged for murdering a girl named Emily Rose. The confession of Father Moore was Emily Rose death because of a demon possessed her. However, the people have different point of view. They assume that the real Emily Rose death because of Epilepsy syndrome and need to be medicated. The approach of Father Moore was through religious concept, which is exorcism, and regarded as an absurd and ridiculous ways.

Father Moore take an advance step, he advised Emily to stop the medical treatment, as the medical treatment is the one making it worse. Erin Bruner, as an attorney an ambitious agnostic. He saw that the defense of Father Moore have a big probability to win the case. Therefore Erin Bruner approached Father Moore and offered to be his lawyer. However there is one condition, that he should be allowed to give testimony which clearly and fully about what really happened to Emily Rose.

As I can see from this movie, those who played as Emily Rose was marvelous.. she acted and she really feels it. As if the actor was really possessed. Every time Emily shouts and possessed in the movie, it never fails to make me goose bumps. Moreover when the ending did not tell what actually happened to Emily Rose, I find some research on it and the freaky facts about this true story movie, is up to now people still don’t know what really happened to Emily Rose.

Was she really possessed or just the sneaky way of Father Moore murdering her? Scary huh?? Hahhaa well, those Horror lovers, this definitely the movie.

Mean Girls (L)

Director : Mark Waters

Writer : Rosalind Wiseman
Co-Writer : Tina Fey

Main Cast:
  • Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron)
  • Rache McAdams (Regina George)
  • Tina Fey (Ms.Norbury)
  • Amy Poehler (Mrs. George)

MPAA Rating : PG-13 for sexual content, language and some teen partying
Runtime : 97 Min
Company : Paramount Pictures

Mean Girls, a teenage comedy movie is also based partly on a non fiction book, Queen Bees and Wannabes written by Rosalind Wiseman. Raised in an African bush country by her zoologist parents, 16 year old home schooled Cady Heron moves back to America and has to start her first day at Northshore High and has to learn the rules of High School filled with stereotypical clichés including “The Plastics” an exclusive group of teenage girls led by the Queen bee, Regina George.

The plastics then decide to recruit Cady into their group but however Cady is still unsure of her relationship with them and seeks advice from her two new friends Damien and Janis, Janis seeing this as an opportunity to seek revenge at Regina George for starting a rumor about her sexuality, the three individuals then start to conspire a plan to bring Regina George down by cutting of her “resources” which are her friends, ex boyfriend and her body.

Cady at first doubted this plan and didn’t really want to cause any trouble but at the Halloween party Regina George purposely took back her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels because she was jealous of Cady’s attraction to him. This conspiracy Cady and soon Janis, Damien and Cady implemented their plan to destroy Regina. However as Cady spends time with the plastics she too becomes one of them, the cliché she hated most. I really liked this movie, it’s a teen movie but realistic despite it’s exaggeration this movie shows the reflection of High School life which is really just a big exaggeration of things and that the real world shouldn’t be like that, Tina Fey did a really good job in writing a story that teenagers can relate to .

The humor is witty and smart and I also liked the portrayal of the characters, this was the breakout role for Lindsay Lohan and it’s a pity to what she has become now. Rachel Mc Adams was also very convincing as the self centered and somewhat crazy Regina George. This flick I would say is a dark comedy much like Heathers which became a cult hit but each of these movies were made in a different time with different issues. However I recommend this movie to well almost everyone out there who has gone through the agony of High School and just wants a good laugh.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (L)

Director : Shane Black

Writer : Brett Halliday
Co-Writer : Shane Black

Main Cast:
  • Robert Downey Jr. (Harry Lockhart)
  • Val Kilmer (Gay Perry)
  • Michelle Monaghan (Harmony Faith Lane)

Award :
  • Empire Award
  • PFCS Award
  • SDFCS Award
  • Satellite Award

MPAA Rating : R for language, violence and sexuality/nudity.
Runtime : 103 Min
Company : Warner Bros Picture

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a movie mix of crime and comedy which basically based on the novel Bodies are where you find them by Brett Halliday. The reference for the film title is base on adaptation of Pauline Kael’s book which she called perhaps the briefest statement imaginable of the basic appeal of movies, which if you further think about it is an irony on films today that only use that appeal in their movies. Anyways the film is narrated by a small time criminal Harry Lockhart who fled after a robbery.

Harry avoids the police by ducking into a film audition and quite frankly is able to impress the producers with his either wise convincing method acting, hire him and fly him to Hollywood where Harry meets private investigator who happens to be gay, Perry Van Shrike who also helps him with his role for the movie. While at a Hollywood party Harry bumps into his highschool crush Harmony Lane, both of them leave to Harry’s apartment but the romance is crushed Harry somehow accidentally sleeps with Harmony’s friend because he was drunk. Meanwhile while working with Perry, Harry accidentally stumbles upon a kidnapping and murder conspiracy that involves a very high profile heiress.

With a crime scene that is intended to frame and incriminate Harry he is able to convince Harmony that he is a detective and both of them investigate her sister’s murder because Harmony believes that the murder of her sister is someone who is also targeting her.

As events related both of the crimes unfold Harry, Perry and Harmony cooperate together to investigate thus endangering all of their lives in the process and revealing a major conspiracy. First of all, I really love this movie I think this movie is funny, witty and well I love the people who star in this movie. Robert Downey is able to play the guy that who we perceive as a charmer and somewhat of a womanizer while Val Kilmer has gone back to his roots playing comedy, I think that he is funny without being over the top in anyway.

I recommend this movie to all comedy enthusiasts out there get a glimpse of Robert Downey before Iron man believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

Despicable Me (T)

Director : Pierre Coffin
Co-Director : Chris Renaud

Writer : Ken Daurio
Co-Writer : Sergio Pablos

Main Cast:
  • Steve Carell (Gru)
  • Jason Segel (Vector)
  • Russell Brand (Dr. Nefario)
  • Kristen Wiig (Miss Hattie)
  • Will Arnett (Mr. Perkins)

MPAA Rating : PG rude humor and mild action.
Runtime : 95 Min

It is a animation and it comes with 3D show in theaters. Basically the movie is about a man who is ambitious since he is a child and rarely gets appreciation and attention from his mother. This guy named Gru (Steve Carell as the voice talents) speaks English in Russian accent.

In the movie, Gru acted as a world’s best thief. He actually stole Liberty Statue, Eifel Tower and etc. one day, Gru was watching the news, and he was surprised that he is not the only greatest thief in the world. Vector (Jason Segel as the voice talets) was the one who stole Pyramid. However, people only know that Gru is the only thief who will stole the Pyramid. Gru was so angry when a lot of people are actually calling him and congratulate him for stealing the Pyramid. Where it is actually Vector stole it.

Gru felt the competitions, and now Gru plans to steal the moon, however he needs a loan from the Evil bank BUT sadly the bank thinks Gru is not the guy worth investing in anymore. Because of the younger thief, who is Vector.
However, Gru kept thinking how to bring down this Vector. As Vector was chosen to be the one who gets the trust from the bank.

While Gru is trying to breakdown Vector’s house, Gru saw this orphan girls go through his house as this girls are selling cookies and candies. Here comes Grus’s sneaky idea. He about to adopt this 3 girls, just to breakdown into Vector’s house by making cookie robots. do you think it works? Well, the more I share the more not cool the movie gonna be. As in my opinion, Despicable me produces too many trailers, which is a spoiler when u actually watching it.

Because you already know what is going to be happened, is just the same in the trailers. However, this movie got me laugh so much.. i admit, this movie made my day today.. and I guess, this movie is highly recommended to watch.. all range of age.

The Orphan (T)

Director : Jaume Collet-Serra

Writer : David Johnson

Main Cast:
  • Fera Farmiga (Kate Coleman)
  • Peter SarsGaaard (John Coleman)
  • Isabella Fuhrman (Esther)

MPAA Rating : R disturbing violence, sexual content and some language
Runtime : 123 Min
Company : Warner Bros

The tragic loss of their unborn child has driving Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard) frustrated. As they already have a child, but their daughter was born mute. Moreover that experience haunts them, so they decided to adopt another child.

At the local orphanage, both John and Kate looked at this girl alone and she is drawing instead of playing with all her housemate. The girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman) and from my opinion, from the name itself, sounds scary. Haha

They try to talk to this girl, Esther. They asked “why don’t you join the party with all the kids” well she replied “there is no need to join the party, I think it is just pointless and a waste of time”. Moreover Esther talks really polite ,full of manner and seemingly angelic little girl.

After heard her reply, Kate and John surprised and thinks the girl is mature on her age and decided to adopt her.

Time goes by, at first Esther and their child were mixed around and gets along until one day Katie felt something is wrong with Esther. Firstly starts from strange behavior of Esther at school complained by her teacher. Secondly, their child acts weirdly at home ever since Esther presence.

So Kate decided to look and research on Esther’s past. Kate calls Sister Abigail in the orphanage and the sister advises Kate that Esther had been involved in many troubles in the past. When Sister Abigail visits Kate, Esther peek and listen to their conversation from distance. After Sister Abigail leave Kate’s house, Esther go after Sister Abigail and stopped Sister Abigail’s car and kill her on the spot with a hammer.

When Kate goes further in the investigation of the past of Esther, she contacts the Saarne Institute, a mental hospital in Estonia, and discovers that the girl is not who she tells she is. Esther has some kind of dwarf problem. She might looks like children, but she is actually an adult and a murderer.

I guess this movie as unexpected ending.. very nice story line and twist and I guess this movie is not suitable for those people want to adopt child haha as they will definitely scared.

The plan soon catch attention of "The basterds" a group of American Guerilla Soldierds led by the ruthless Lt Aldo Raine. They are very violent and cruel when it comes to Nazi.

This movie was directed by Quentin Tarantino and stars Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger and Melanie Laurent. I just loved this movie eventhough it is fiction I just wished history could have ended up like this, the movie was intense and action packed. Christoph Waltz did a very fine job playing a Nazi, he was ruthless, cunning and overall sadistic.

Brad Pitt also did a fine job in his portrayal as the hero I thought his accent was very funny. My favourite scene was in the movie theatre I thought it was very intense and somewhat a happy ending, that Hitler finally got what he deserve. This movie is a must see but only for action buffs out there and people who appreciate Quentin Tarantino movies.

My favorite intense scene!

This movie never fails to make me wanting those coopers :) I wish I could have one haha and, seriously I love the way they drive and the way they make the movie just like possible to steal those gold. I admit this is the movie that entertained me the most compared all movies I’ve reviewed. I mean for the category of action, of course. Moreover within this movie, I just feel like there is always climax.

Well for those who love automotive, this movie is highly recommended, I as an automotive fans, will definitely rate this movie as 8.5 out of 10. This is a movie a must to watch.

As the war eventually occurs in Europe and Asia that time, it’s becoming a big opportunity for their dream and they sign up for the air force. Therefore Rafe falling with one of the nurses, Evelyn (kate Beckinsale). During the war, Rafe got a mission and have to go to war and the two of them realize that they might not ever meet again. After awhile when Evelyn has been transferred into Pearl Harbor, she received a news from Rafe’s best friend, Danny, that Rafe was shot down and presumed killed on the spot.

On Sunday morning, where all the troops are unprepared and a lot of them were hang over during the Saturday night. A sudden and suicidal air attack from Japanese jet fighter was a shock. And the Japanese smartly hit and bombs their naval and air port, which totally paralyze the Pearl Harbor. A massive air attack brilliantly plotted and planned by the Japanese.

After several months, the American prepares to counter attack, which leading the way by Danny. During the journey of counter attacking to Japan, they have to go through Vietnam and a lot of them shots down. However some of them reach Japan main island and throw bombs into Nagasaki and Hiroshima. However the bombing mission could also say as suicidal attack as they don’t have enough fuel to fly back to American area.

I feel this movie was a really good historical movie, where we get to know why the American bomb a massive impact into Hiroshima and Nagasaki that time. It has a lot of modification based on the history. But that’s the one making the movie entertaining. Overall I rate this movie as 7.5 out of 10 for their educating and yet entertaining.

Paranormal Activity (T)

Director : Oren Peli

Writer : Oren Peli

Main Cast:
  • Katie Featherston (Katie)
  • Micah Sloat (Sloat)
Award:
  • Festival Trophy
  • Honorable Mention

MPAA Rating : R for language
Runtime : 86 Min
Company : BlumHouse Production

Basically from my point of view, the movie was a low budget movie. The movie was only in the room most all the time. I can say ¾ of the shows in their bed room and a two-story house in San Diego. Katie (Katie Featherston) and Micah (Micah Sloat) are just a typical nice young couple.

They're not married, and Katie is in college, where the boyfriend is a day-trader. They're relatable, they don't speak movie dialogue, and they seem to really be into each other.
One night, it starts at 3 a.m. in the morning, Katie woke up from her sleep because of noises, where she try to complain to Micah but, he don’t believe whatever Katie said.

However Micah is a caring boyfriend, who try to comforts his beloved girlfriend. But, the thing is, I felt the boyfriend act too big haha. He go and buy Video camera, highest tech and really sensitive in voice capturing to convince his girlfriend, that in their house have nothing, but the only 2 of them.

So the main idea is, the boyfriend trying to find an evidence if someone trying to messing around with them.
In the next morning after Micah buy the video camera, Micah follows Katie around with the camera during the day and at nigh. In the end he sets up the camera to record events in their bedroom,as what the girlfriend complains about.

The morning after, Micah transfer all the capturing video into his laptop. And guess what?? oh yeah, that camera does in fact confirm the existence of something terrifying in their house. To say more would be to spoil the story. :) I really recommend this movie so much.. though it based on low budget, but really makes you goosebumps haha.. get prepared hardly to sleep after watching this movie.. hehehhe

Harold and Kumar : Go To White Castle (T)

Director : Danny Leiner

Writer : John Hurwitz
Co-Writer : Hayden Scholossberg

Main Cast:
  • John Cho (Harold Lee)
  • Kal Penn (Kumar Patel)

MPAA Rating : R for strongly for language, sexual content, drug use and crude humor
Runtime : 88 Min
Company : EndGame Entertainment

Harold Lee (John Cho) the type of person serious, book worm, and he is a shy Korean-American accountant. Where his best friend, Kumar Patel (Kal Penn), an Indian-American, is always crazy over party, and his parents think he's about to enroll in med school. One night Harold and Kumar were getting stoned, and there is a White Castle commercial plays on TV and gives them an extra imagination where they are already high.

They are actually hungry as the effect of ganja, and Kumar seems to remember that there is a White Castle near where they live. So they decided to go and drive to White Castle to have the Burger as in the commercials.

As they drive and there is a hijacks asking for a ride, and Harold and Kumar surprised that the guy was Neil Patrick, an actor. After some chatting, Harold and Kumar felt something wrong with this hijack guy and decided to stop by in the gas station. After they stop, they decided to leave this Neil Patrick. Unfortunately, the car was stolen by that guy and they start arguing and blaming on each other haha.

In the end, they are force to walk to the white castle and go through bushes and forest where as they were high caused of ganja, they met this cheetah in the jungle and they are so freaked out after saw a corpse by the cheetah.

Basically this movie was one of my favorite, I really wish to have the DVD of this movie as I lost it. This is the movie that never fails to make me laugh so hard. And I rate this as 8.5 out of 10. I really recommend this movie. U guys should watch this marvelous movie hahaha

The Spirit (L)

Director : Frank Miller

Writer : Frank Miller and Will Eisner

Main Cast:
  • Jamie King (Lorelei Rox)
  • Gabriel Macht (The Spirit/Denny Colt)
  • Eva Mendes (Sand Saref)
  • Samuel L. Jackson (The Octopus)
  • Scarlett Johansson (Silken Floss)

MPAA Rating : PG-13 intense sequence of stylize violence and action, brief nudity and sexual content.
Runtime : 103 Min
Company : Lionsgate

Base on adaptation comic book called "Spirit" written by legendary "Will Eisner"

Based on the newspaper comic strip by Will Eisner, The Spirit was directed and written by Frank Miller and stars Gabriel Macht, Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson, etc. The story starts off with a good policeman named Denny Colt who returns from the death as “the spirit”, a hero whose mission is fight against any evil forces invading the city including has arch nemesis, The octopus who murders anyone who comes into contact with him and is unfortunate enough to see his face. The Octopus has come up with an evil plan to wipe out the entire city.

The Spirit however must track down the evil Octopus from the city’s rundown warehouses, catacombs all the while facing the city’s beautiful women. Who have their own agenda’s towards the spirit either to seduce, love or kill the masked vigilante.

The movie despite it’s star studded cast and extensive promotion was a critical and commercial fail. However it was more successful once released in the blu-ray version, which I even bought myself and love the high- definition Cinema photography.

I also loved the concept of this movie about a modern hero, he wears converse I don’t know how modern that gets. The style, the acting also made it feel like a real life comic strip. However I thought Samuel L Jackson as The Octopus was a little over the top and the dialogue was a little cheesy.

Overall i liked this movie but in comparison to other Frank Miller movies this was the least i liked but if you like comic strips coming to life in movies and film noir i recommend this is the right movie for you. I heard a lot of people find this movie not very good because of the story concept but personally it is a bit 50s comic cartoon style that is why for some people would see this movie bad.
